Prince Harry is being treated as a non-royal in the UK and has not been permitted to reside in Windsor

Prince Harry, the younger son of King Charles III, appeared to receive non-royal treatment in his homeland as reports emerged that he was not permitted to stay at Windsor Castle when he traveled to London for a charity event coinciding with the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's passing earlier this month.

The Duke of Sussex, aged 39, arrived in London to attend the annual WellChild Awards on September 7, which coincided with the eve of the anniversary of his grandmother's death. Surprisingly, he was denied accommodation at the royal residence, Windsor Castle.

Prince Harry subsequently sought permission to visit the late Queen's grave at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, which he did on September 8. During this visit, he did not have a meeting with his father, King Charles, who was in Balmoral at the time. The Duke was not allowed to stay at the Castle.

Reports suggest that Buckingham Palace was unable to accommodate Harry's last-minute lodging request. Even after the details of his visit were finalized, Harry reached out to the Palace. His team shared the itinerary for his 24-hour visit, prompting the Palace to request a formal accommodation request. It remained unclear whether King Charles had been informed of this communication.

Prince Harry expressed his desire to meet with his father and stay with him before he flew to Dusseldorf, Germany, for the Invictus Games. An insider from the palace responded by informing Harry that the King would be at Balmoral Castle during those dates, offering an opportunity for Harry to join his father at the Scottish estate.

This occasion was seen as an opportunity for father and son to have a face-to-face meeting, especially since Harry's relationship with the royal family had become strained in the months following his and Meghan's relocation to the United States after stepping down from their royal duties.

Some royal critics interpreted this situation as an indication that Prince Harry was being treated as a non-royal during his recent visit to the UK. The Duke is next scheduled to visit the country in January when his case against a media group goes to trial.
